ABOUT
Composed of individual fictional portraits rendered in clay, “Kin” serves as a meditation upon ancestry within the context of the theory of shared human origin. The faces’ composition are in familiar proximity to one another, inviting the viewer to infer their relationships; the title “Kin” acting as both description, and invitation.
Sculpted, and then painted in oil without the use of direct reference or visual aids, these fictional portraits represent completely unique individuals. This results in portraits that, like all of us, bear resemblance to the generations that have come before them.
