On April 26, 2025 I held an activation at the Berkeley Art Center for the exhibition “Archives Yet to Come” curated by Hannah Waiters. Engaging with Value Test: Brown Paper, I performed three semi-improvised monologues, embodying the subjects depicted within the paintings. The performance drew upon the fictitious nature of the portraits in Value Test, almost all of which were rendered using photo collage as reference as opposed to a single model. The result is the creation of singular characters, each of whom embody the oral history and storytelling present within discussions of colorism within Black communities.

Including the poet activation at Museum of the African Diaspora in April of 2024, the Berkeley Art Center performance continues a series of narrative interpretations of the “Value Test” project.
